They do that when they think they can rip you off for an extra 3000 on the car they are selling you.


This is a fact for sure. I really don't put much stock in any of it. They just move the numbers around to please whoever they're dealing with. When I'm serious I dont even mention a trade until I've already negotiated a price on the new car.
