Why are you arguing about facts that are already established? Even a kid, like me seems to understand better.
 
Those allowed grades listed in the approval are really not useful. It's probably a marketing thing since oil is sold by grade, but it is not the determining factor in whether an oil obtains the approval or not.
That may be true for auto manufacturers that don't have their own specifications for oils, but for the German makes.... the newer oil specifications are pretty specific on the grade of oil that is part of a specification. That's really what they list specifically for the makeup of the oil. The rest is based on performance tests.

This is why, for the examples I used.... you can't find a 0w/5w-40 oil that is certified by VW to meet 504/507, or a 0w/5w-30 that is certified by VW and BMW to meet 508/509 and LL14-FE+ respectively.
 
Yes there are subtle differences between grades and the HT/HS. But those amount to little more than marketing.
