I also vote for this as second...

Only because hunting trucks are old truck that *might* not pass their next inspection and have more rust than paint.

We have an entire TOWN full of those exact people. They need their "RAM" with 22'' wheels and HEMI to commute 20 miles back and fourth to their desk job. The pickup never tows or hauls.

I can show you over 100 HD trucks that never see any duty heavier than my Mazda has handled on any Friday or Saturday at the local Honky-Tonk (converted from a K-Mart)
All the owners dress the part, but few if any have ever done any ranch work. Their trucks are just passenger cars. $1500 Lucchese ostrich boots are for boot-scootin' - wouldn't want any mud or cow-poop on those.

But it is de-riguer amongst the suburban cowboy crowd

Same here. The worst part? They are terrible drivers as well. I couldn't give a [censored] about people driving a big truck... but drive a big truck and act like a D-bag and we have a problem.

I love when people drive huge lifted trucks and complain about gas prices.
lol.gif
I drive a 14 year old Jeep that gets 17 mpg on a good day. Not once have I complained about the price of gas, because I bought it knowing what fuel economy I would get.

Anytime I see a guy with a jacked up truck with the bed level at chest height or higher, I know he's compensating for something because you know he is not doing any work with it. What's he going to use a stepladder to put stuff back there? Are the ladies lining up to climb into that thing? LOL

Silly Poseurs. Talk about embarrassing.

Got a laugh out of that one!!

So guys with jacked up trucks lifted real high & guys with hot red sports cars have always been assumed to be "compensating for something", lol, then by that theory (which I do agree with) I am Dirk Diggler because I drive a Prius!! haha!

The most manly vehicle is a Minivan... because any man forced to drive the kid-mobile is in one fertile relationship. True, his purpose in life is over, but boy, he was successful.

They call 'em WORK trucks for a reason, haha.

I don't like driving a Toyota Prius because I am not a fan of certain people who drive them.

If I based the decision on exterior and interior style only, I would be most embarrassed driving the last 2 generations of VW Beetle. The newest beetle style doesn't bother me, but I would still prefer a Golf, Passat, or Jetta.

Ironically wasnt there a. Plymouth concept car in the early-mid 90's that looked about like that Fiat? The Expresso IIRC?

?

You haven't seen the kind of Prius driver who feels superior to people without hybrids? Maybe with the increased number of hybrid cars, the drivers don't feel superior anymore.

The other reason I don't like driving someone's Prius is because they often have bumper stickers that I don't like.

I'm one of those guys. Although my truck is pretty basic. OK completely basic. They all end up as work trucks sooner or later. Its OK for my puny commute. The last tank was 18 mpg so city driving I can't complain. If anything, I'm more perplexed than ever at the attraction of the size of these things. Even the smallest configuration you can find is huge. Even more bizarre is the 4x4 feature. Go to Phoenix. No snow, but pretty much every new pickup is 4X4. Are all those suburbanites taking their trucks out on the trail? Really? That's a $4,000 option and most people just automatically buy it.

I almost don't care at all if the car is stock...Smart car.. No biggie. It's when there are ridiculous/distasteful mods like old junk cars with $3K rims, or an old Sunfire with GT racing stickers and a low hanging [censored] can.

Can not do.

I agree completely. Its the mods that would make a car distasteful to me. That or a car grossly at odds with my demographic. A Mustang GT convertible in the distinctive "Viagra" blue color might be fine for a thirty year old woman, not for a middle-aged guy like me.

I still have to say that the hands-down ugliest truck ever built is the Raptor. It's worse that even an Aztek.

IDK, I think that a Smart might be fun to drive, at least for a week or two.
One man's meat is another man's poison.
Some people really like the look of cars I would consider hideous.
Finally, anyone who'd find any car embarrassing to drive cares way too much about what other people think.

You know, I would take a Smart Roadster in a heartbeat (if it had a 5-speed). Shame they never made it state-side. Oh well. It would have been nice.

I would drive any "embarrassing" car or truck if it fit my needs. I could care less what the rest of the world thinks. Heck. The other day, I was at one of my kids track meets when I heard some giggling by some teenagers in the stands. It turns out they were laughing at my flip phone which is $17/mo unlimited talk and text. Sure I could afford nice European cars (okay, the wife drives one), and super fast smart phones, but I would rather live entirely debt free. If driving an embarrassing car is what I have to do to be debt free, than so be it. As long as it is safe and fits my requirements and needs.
