This is correct. Hyundai and Kia RIPPED OFF FORD.

Dang..I think Hyundai/Kia must have legions of internet marketing shills on almost every automotive forum .

And BMW, and Mercedes and pretty much every other auto manufacturer, LOL!

My sister (who has a 330i) remarked at what she thought was a 5-series when we went for a walk. It was a Hyundai! LMAO!!!

Probably because Hyundai's chief designer used to work for BMW

He didn't design the 5-series and he left BMW for Hyundai well after the Genesis was already on the road.

So.....we are going back to the Mondeo.

Back to the Euro-Ford well that has often poisoned them. The Focus seems like one of the rare European Fords that is both a good car and will sell. Msybe they are on to something this time. (The Fiesta used Mazda engineers so it is a combination of Euro-Ford and Mazda and doesn't count)

The original Capri and XR4tis were good performing cars that didn't sell. The original Escort was a horrible car that sold. And the Contour (American for Mondeo) was an odd car the size of a similar year Altima with a Sentra size back seat.

Ford's give the US one Australian model. Just one. They cut the roof off of a Ford Laser/Mazda 323 and tried to make it sell against the Mazda MX-5 Miata. Not so good.

They won't give us the Falcon.

The Holden Commodore was the darling of the automotive press when it was called the Pontiac G8 here.(Sadly, Pontiac was already on it's way out and even the very good G8 could not save the marque) Chrysler sells plenty of Chargers and 300s so US buyers will buy RWD cars, but Ford does not want us to have the Falcon.

That's fantastic!

I think it is great looking car!

The exterior and interior (especially the black leather picture) closely resemble the Hyundai Sonata. My father has one that I'm looking at out the window this moment.

It wasn't Ford of Europe that caused the problems it was Dearborn cutting corners when they specced out the car for sale in the USA. At the same time the US version of the MKI Focus was having HORRENDOUS problems , the European built Focus was one of the most reliable cars on the road.

.

The Sierra (XR4Ti) was a failure because they tried to sell it in showrooms with Grandpa cars from Lincoln and Mercury and also they changed so many things it became a very different car from the Euro version. The MKI Escort we got in the USA had NO relation to the car the Europeans received at ALL other than the basic shape!. Theirs was very high quality, ours was [censored]. I would bet that 99% of the parts were different in the Euro and US Escort sold at the same time.

It's just because they sell as a security blanket for people who are afraid of merging on a highway, and don't think they can do so safely without.

It's just false security and lousy economy... And let's not forget about working on that engine, especially the rear bank, in that kind of car...

I think that car looks ugly. I really dislike the front end and grill is just awful. Similiar to an Aston but really rough and doesn't compare to the finish of one.

Lights look like they were ripped off a Mitsubishi Lancer/Evo.

I could be wrong but I do not think the Mazda 6 is built on the EUCD/CD4 platform, which is what the 2007+ Mondeo and 2013 Fusion is built on.

The Mazda-derived CD3 is going by the wayside for far superior bones. EUCD/CD4 is a Ford platform through and through, BTW.

Sounds like ford has a home run here, especially considering that it's finally going to be built in the USA, where it always should have been. Makes me wonder what Ford is going to use the excess capacity at Hermosillo for.

AFAIK, Hermosillo has been running at or near capacity for years. AAI will be used for increased capacity.

I have to say the current Mazda 6 is a heck of a great car, I really don't know why Mazda has not marketed the car properly.

It is a sleeper that very few people know about.

Of all the cars in the family sedan category the Mazda 6 is my absolute favorite, if you get the 6i with the slick and excellent manual transmission you are getting one heck of a quality product at a low price.

I could be wrong, but I thought the CD4 platform is a derivative of CD3. Ford eventually has to bring out a totally new platform as this one is almost 10 years old.
