Anyone? New 2012 Ford Fusion, still on the lot.

Essentially zero. Very good at shelf life; it's the number of recharge cycles and the discharge state the pack is in when charging is initialized that affects life of a NiMH battery.

I think all hybrid credits expired long ago. Now it's strictly EVs that get credits. The trunk has a small "bulge" for the battery but the rear seat still folds down for carrying large items (if I recall correctly).

The battery already has an 80,000/8 year warranty. It starts TODAY not back in 2012, so if you need a new pack, the cost will be paid by Ford.

$16000 for a brand-new hybrid is a steal. Especially the Fusion which is a really nice car inside (unlike some other hybrids that feel like they are stripped to lower weight). My boss had a Fusion Hybrid and I loved it.

Some dealerships are so in love with their inventory they can't bear to make the deal they need to unload a dog. Gone are the days when "last years" is just like "this years". Cars change too fast to let them sit around.

Not bad, could likely get them lower. Probably figured that somebody would want a high-MPG commuter when gas was reaching $3.xx to $4.xx a gallon across the country.

What car are you driving if you can't cope with a Fusion's cavernous trunk? A Crown Vic?

Im guessing the hybrid has less trunk space than a standard fusion.

BINGO!

I agree with the other guy who said, "Ignore those who are not familiar with that model." - My 2003 Civic Hybrid has the same trunk space as a normal Civic because the battery is stored IN the rear seat. No space lost. - Newer hybrids like Jetta and Fusion put the battery UNDER the seat. There's no lost trunk space. You can't even tell the battery is there until you folddown the seat & see a small ridge.

- The only lost space is the fuel tank which is slightly smaller, and yet you still get a longer range (due to higher MPG).

Sounds like a better choice over a new Focus that's around the same price if you don't mind that it's a five y/o car without all the new tech that cars come with now.

Looking at the dealer's inventory and other information, calling this dealer just a small town dealer doesn't seem like the right call. Appears to be more of a dealership that specializes in fleet type sales. Just flipping through their inventory, they carry a ton of XL trim level trucks, lots of base models - the opposite of what most retail dealerships carry in stock. We have a similar dealer in the Twin Cities - Boyer Ford. A very different mixture of vehicles that a typical dealer. Not that they won't work with you for your order (particularly when you buy heavy trucks from them in bulk

)

Odds are this was another base/fleet type model that for whatever reason didn't capture any fleet users attention (and likely won't at a 2012 model year now).

This.

My guess is the dealer put it "into service" about five or six years ago, and most of the warranty is long, long, gone.

Says the guy who is not familiar with this model, right?

This generation of Fusion Hybrid packages the battery BEHIND the rear seat. It deletes the folding capability of the seats and takes about the forward third of the trunk. More here:

You guys should jump on this Ford Fusion deal before it disappears. For myself too many other cars I want first:

- Accord V6 Hybrid... fastest hybrid ever made
- Toyota iQ - smallest 4 seater ever made
- Chevy Volt
- Cruze Diesel
- BMW i3 with motorcycle engine
- BMW 335d with inline 6 diesel
- used Tesla S
