Try a HIGH mileage 5W-30 Synthetic….it can fix the leaks that it causes!

Her Yaris does have the 1.5L engine with VVti, not sure of the Toyota engine designation yet.
The manual specifies a 5W-30. So, pretty much the consensus is to go with either a) Mobil-1 5W-30 HM, b) something like SuperTech 5W-30, or c) a non-syn 5W-30.

Pretty much I am hearing to stay with the 5W-30 grade...Sound about right?

I’d be running the cheapest 5w30 synblend I could find. It is a 15yr old car with 175K - good enough is good enough.

5W-30 is a lot easier to find on sale than 0W-30. But hey how many times a week does it drop below 0 degrees in Durham, NC?
