I have to post this pic every year because I think it's so cool.

BeerCan - Wow! I presume that was in '04? We were in our final month in New Zealand, and I was following the finals on the CBC website on dial-up. I was hoping for the Flames, but was glad to see our old Winnipeg goaltender, Nik Khabibulin, win a Cup with the Lighning.

So do tell - how did the Cup happen to be in your possession?

The year the bolts won the cup. My dad was an equipment guy on the team. Staff as well as the players get a day with the cup, so we had a big party. Staff has to keep the cup in its home city and can't travel with it like the players can.

There was a guard with it the whole time. He was never far from it and made sure that no one did anything stupid.

LoL I look at that picture and see my little kids. They are both adults now and the time has flown by. Seems like yesterday . . .

WINNIPEG JETS roastin the Knights already 2-0. Byfuglien scored 65 seconds in to make it 1-0 then Laine made it 2-0. Fleury looks confused and scared

I'm an old goalie. Even though I was delighted to see the Jets win, I felt really bad for Rinne.

This is (pleasantly) shocking for Jets' fans. Although the original Jets were very successful in the WHA ('72/'73 through '78/'79, winning three Avco Cups in seven years), their playoff record in the NHL had been dismal before this season. They only won two first-round series ('85 and '87) and were swept by the Oilers both times. In '90 and '92 they blew 3-1 series leads in the first round and lost in seven.

The 'new' Jets (the transplanted Atlanta Thrashers) made the playoffs in '15, but were swept by Anaheim.

So, this year is the first time they had ever won a 2nd-round game, and the first time they've ever advanced to the semifinals.

I must have missed it in game 1 where he looked confused and scared. He sure was in control in game 3. All the sportscasters act like his incredible play was a fluke. He has been playing like that all year.
No question the Jets deserve to be where they are. They are a great team. Their goalie though isn't in the same class as Fleury, and that may be the deciding factor in the West Championship. That and the fact we have more Canadians on our team than the Canadian team.

Not surprisingly I'm rooting for the Jets, but Wow, did the Knights ever put on a great LOTR-themed pre-game show last night. You've got a great team there, and yes, M-A Fleury is the real deal.

Vegas could go all the way. If they get Capitals that will go 6 or 7 games

GKs were 500 to 1 long shots to win the Cup at the start of the season. About 3 weeks ago Station Casinos gave away betting tickets to preferred patrons for the team to win. If they do win, that will be the first time in history the Vegas sports books lost money and liked it.

I think the team came along near the same time as the massacre and gave the town something to associate with better times. They love Vegas and Vegas loves them. If they had a .500 season we'd still love them. How well they have done, even if they don't win another game this season, is unbelievable.

I know BeerCan and myself are pleased that Capitals lost again. Seeing Ovech-chimp act like a 2 year old at end of last game shows he wont ever change from his egotistical ways
