When switching over is sampling necessary?

No, I did a “short” ~5k miles run on both vehicles to kind of clean them out and now I’m going for a year. The sampling is to ensure the oil is still good, the van has the same engine as wwilson’s Durnago so I’m not too concerned about it.

Are those diety running engines or hard on oil?? I'm getting ready to put HPL Euro 5-40 in my pristine MB 3.5 engines. The oil filters will be easy to examine so we will see.
