$4-a-gallon gas forecast in some areas

My boss schleps his '07 Silverado Crew Cab into work every day, with a 108 mile round trip. I don't know how he can stand to [censored] that much money away. It seems even with the initial purchase, licensing, insurance, etc. he could eventually break even with a car that gets twice the MPG.

$4-a-gallon gas forecast in some areas

I decided to make an investment in saving money. I paid $1100 for a 1994 Kawasaki Ninja 250 that's rated between 55 and 70 mpg. Between the fuel savings from my 19 mpg car and the enjoyment the bike gives me, it's a win-win. Add less emissions per mile and it's a win-win-win. It's not like the...

how long you typically keep your car

Lately it's been between 1-2 years. My record is 4. I hope my current car has satisfied my craving for newer and better.

    Nissan Sentra with CVT

I drove a Murano and it was a little unnerving to me. It seemed to allow more engine RPMs than I felt necessary for moderate in-town acceleration. It reminded me a lot of the sensation of accelerating in a motor boat. On the highway is where it shines IMO.

    Some Sunday afternoon entertainment,Motorkote!

I'd try it in my bike if it wouldn't screw up the wet clutch. It won't be going in my car though.

    Matrix/Vibe.

This might be one of those cases where the bigger engine actually yields better MPG due to it not being necessary to rev the cr*p out of it to hustle it down the road. I remember some of the first automotive press impressions of the original Vibe, and that was their chief complaint...when it was...

    Power needs vs. wants

My 2006 Mazdaspeed 6 offers a tremendous gas mileage return for pumping out 270 horses when needed. Turbo 4s are the wave of the future for those who want good power to go along with their respectable mpg. Nobody NEEDS 270 hp but when it comes time to make a run down Dallas's famous 20...

    Father Smashed Infant's Head

It's such sad irony to think of how hard it is for good, reproductively-challenged people to adopt, and trash like this breed like rabbits. I too wish there was an effective licensing procedure for bearing young. There are a lot of people who need to be evaluated before having children.

    California Homeschool Parents Are Criminals!

A socially awkward kid that can kick everyone's [censored]. Not sure that's the answer, but it's interesting. Speaking from very close experience, people who spend 18 years sheltering their kids from the freaks, animals, bad people, etc. end up regretting it because they they then have a young...

    California Homeschool Parents Are Criminals!

How do you guys feel about the social interaction skills of a homeschooled child? Not trying to be mean or judgemental, but the adolescents I've met that were homeschooled seemed a little 'odd' to me, and I can't help but feel that they're not getting any real-world experience by not going to...

An example of VW quality control...

I saw a similar mistake on a window sticker years ago...1992 to be exact. The window sticker said 1992 Eagle Talon TSi AWD. The car had no AWD decals on the rockers or the rear bumper, and no rear differential. Niiiiiice.

    cold engien oil change. Effective?

Agreed..you're going way overboard for the short time it's in storage. I bought a 92 S-10 that had been in storage for >3 years. I didn't see a point in starting it and getting all the gunk in the oil stirred back up, as by that time it had probably settled to the bottom of the pan. I just...
