Torn between these two budget filters. Either the ST10358 and the CH10358. Both should be good for 5k I believe. The ST is made in the USA, and the Fram is made in China.

Not sure on the ST but the Fram claims 95% over 20 microns.

From Fram website:

FRAM Group testing of average filter efficiency of PH8A, 3387A and 4967 or equivalent FRAM TG or XG models under ISO 4548-12 for particles greater than 20 microns.

ST is $2.97 +tax
CH is $5.63 +tax

I'm guessing they're pretty much the same in efficiency rating. Fram says 95 @ 20+ and I believe I saw someone say ST claims 99 @ 30...so same thing different ways of saying it I guess

Between those two, ST, since it is US-made

Mahle makes a very good filter for that application, made in Austria

But right now, Napa has a sale on their Napa Platinum filters for only $5.99. Napa #47064 . Napa Platinum is the same as Wix XP, which is like the Fram Ultra. Made in Poland.

IF I have a choice, I ain't buying a China made filter regardless of the efficiency.

Why would I pay extra for either of these filters when OE can be purchased for less?

$34.50 for 10 delivered

Your choice. It doesn't matter much to me. I'm running an Oem filter as we speak. For 5k I don't think what I use matters much

They are so close I'd get one of each and use them over a couple OCI increments and see what the look like vane wise when you pull them out.

Agreed 100%

To the OP, where are you choosing to purchase your filters? What is your most important criteria for deciding on what to purchase?

Country of origin, efficiency, price, durability, availability to name a few.

There's a cost associated with going to Walmart.
