What cars you owned gave you the worst and best mpg?
My worst was a ‘65 mustang 4.7 L V8 that got 18-20 mpg on the highway.
Best is my 2015 1.0 L ecoboost Fiesta that gets 46 mpg.
Both cars weigh 2700 lbs and have about the same interior space. Mustang’s trunk seemed bigger but specs say not. Fiesta’s faster acceleration even though hp is less on comparable rating. Most be the torque curve is better.
At typically upper 30s to mid-40s, the Subaru (also listed below) didn't do quite as well, despite slightly lower weight, lower frontal area, and an even smaller engine. The reason was primarily gearing, 4.02 vs. 2.82 engine revolutions per (same size) tire revolution in top gear.... My best non-hybrid was the Mazda 5-speed, which usually managed mid-40s, occasionally over 50 for a tank.
Worst Mpg: My 2008 V8 4x4 Pathfinder. 18 on highwayWhat cars you owned gave you the worst and best mpg?
