Mobil 1 0w40 is A3B4, but also has the higher viscosity than recommended xw30. By going A3B4 for stronger protection, should I consider staying with 5w30 or would the 0w40 be fine.
The Mobil 1 5w30 is A5/B5 so I would be looking at another manufacturer to supply A3B3 grade.

It's rather hot in Australia. Cold cranking isn't really a concern, but high oil temps are very possible. A thicker oil gives more of a buffer compared to a 30 at a given temp. If you just putter around the 30 will be fine, but if you put that V8 to work I'd run a 40 in your climate.
