I served in VP-11 from 3-64 to 6-67 and we flew the P2V Neptune. I was a a jet mech but spent many hours wrenching on the R-3350 radials. The jets were the J-34. I did fly on CAC 11 for nearly 2 years as 2nd mech and spent many hours in the jump seat between and aft of the pilots. My job was to watch the fuel load and transfer fuel from tank to tank when needed. Also monitor the engines and fire up the jets when the pilot wanted them. We spent many hours flying out of Brunswick, Me. over the north Atlantic, Caribbean, and the Med while on deployment. Great adventure for a 21 year old kid. This is a pic of us on patrol in the Med in 1966. Tail number 147962.
