For sure, not much to like about that. Other things about those cars were tune-ups needed every year, tires shot after 15K or less, mufflers that rusted and fell off after three years. Manual steering, manual brakes and no air conditioning except on the higher priced luxury cars (which had their own set of problems with these options).

But the average car owner knew how to adjust valves, set point gaps and timing, and tweak a carb.
