I've been using the Volvo SAE 30 oil and appropriate filter for my boat, but from the research i've done on this board i could use automotive oil and filters. Which oil and filter would you guys recommmended? I was thinking M1 15-50, but not sure what filter. Which AC Delco filter would fit?

it's a 2002 5.0 GL (carb) with a SX drive. TIA

Most marinized auto engines are Chevys.
I'm sure Volvo Penta used them; so What ever that years Chevy engine uses, that's the one.
Remote oil filter is another story.

Why would you not want to use a Marine Oil ??? Yes I am
sure that Volvo doesn't produce it's own brand of oil but
it is however made to there specifications.
I.E. (FC-W). As the old addage says...

Don't Fix What Ain't Broke

The same reason some of us don't want to buy cycle oil.
It's way overpriced and not all that different then common auto oil.
YES, they are probably better for the applications, but regular auto oil will do fine if change intervals are observed and other maintanence items are taken care of.
