Radar Detectors

I have two that have never failed me. I moved out of the area that had red light/turn on red cameras and park/school zone cameras (Illinois) but they still are great for keeping me alert to speed traps ect. The max shows current speed and the 9500 is older and only shows speed when radar is detected. Both have satellite connections. If you get any brand try to get a hardwired to the mirror setup
What do you mean Satellite connections? GPS?

Unless you have laser jammers, but even then you are in trouble
I got nailed by a stationary IST using laser but he was just trying to slow everyone down luckily. The laser alerts are triggered by airport wind shear and collision detectors on cars. Totally worthless feature.Wis.is all KA

I use an Escort Max 360, it’s saved me more than enough times to pay for itself. Mazda and Honda/Acura BSM still set it off but it’s not an annoying full blast alert and I have to be very close to them for it to happen.
Waze is useless out here.

Used to have a cobra on the evo. Then I realized don't excessively speed and there won't be a problem. By the time a cop gets you with a laser it's too late anyways. The advent of radars on cars and buildings made it a more moot point.

My Honda RC45 is a race bike with headlights that does 90mph in 1st gear and go-straight-to-jail-velocity in 6th gear... that's why I never ride without my trusty a Bel 975r Remote radar detector...

I fabricated a special Delrin mount and blends the gauges with the
warning pod... I used wax transfer letters to spell out "Oh S h * t"

I fabricated a small Delrin box to house the antenna and mounted it
under the fairing...

Even Mr.CHP gets a kick out of the "Oh Sh * t" on the signal pod...

Whoa Mr.RC45 please whoa...

I have used one for years, for the same reasons the OP wants one, to detect a cop sitting behind a tree in a small town where the speed change sign is also behind the tree. Plenty of those around here. The good news is LiDAR can’t be shot from behind the tree either, and the small towns usually don’t have them anyways.

As an aside, my experience is when you see the small town cops out pinching speeders it’s a good sign of pending recession, because tax receipts are a little lite. Their presence has been really picking up for the last six months.

Mines pretty old. Looking for a new one myself.

Valentine 1. On the latest version. Updated the old one a couple times. Been using it for over 20 years. Probably got it around 2003 or so.

they use lidar around my (a lot). to be fully protected i would need a detector and jammer. that puts me in the 2k range. Its just not worth that. I just keep it under 10 and they leave me alone.

I was watching a video last night where the office was behind a big pole/sign and shooting laser form the side

SC M, Ever been through Society Hill, S.C. ? …..
Many, many times - on my way to the manufacturing plants in Cheraw.

Is the same all over the South, unfortunately - including all around the outskirts of Charleston where I live. They sit continually at the speed trap in the end of Dorchester Road where it meets 17A, there is a cop in Cottageville who's only role in life is to pinch speeders who miss the partially obscured sign coming in to town, to name just a few.

Some of the comments are from years ago. I haven’t tried a radar detector purchased after 2020 but anything built before then will fill your day with constant false alarms from lane change detection systems. Lemme know if I’m incorrect.

Check out the Vortex Radar channel on Youtube, I know some people who know him personally (I dont), he's pretty fair in his reviews.

Valentine, Uniden, Escort, and Cobra are the only real options that have anything worth using. And Escort and Cobra are the same people now.

I have an Escort Max 360c and a 360c with the dash cam, both seem to work well. Neither one is small, which is my biggest complaint, since my daily driver is a Fiat Spider (basically a Miata) and there is barely enough room to even breathe in there, and the dash is tiny and there isnt much room for bulky gadgets.
