The Harley filter is "nominal efficiency at 5u" which is 50% @ 5u.As for my Harleys, I use the HD filter for the 5 micron rating - the Fram 6022 is rated at 10 micron so might be ok??
Thank you that puts in perspective and to be honest not having to step into the HD dealership is a plus to me. I hate giving them any money. The Harley filter is "nominal efficiency at 5u" which is 50% @ 5u.
HiFlo Filtro HF171RC Filtering Efficiency
The HD filter shown in the video is not Harley’s newest filter. The newest P/N for the M8 engine is: 62700296 for a black one, …297 for chrome. https://static.nhtsa.gov/odi/tsbs/2020/MC-10172233-0001.pdfbobistheoilguy.com
Fram says the 6022 and 6065B (chromed version) are 95% @ 20u, which is probably pretty close to 50% @ 5u.
Thank for taking the time to share all of that information! I have a Twin Cam 88B (Softail Duece) and a Twin Cam 96 (ultra classic).@GMBoy
Not sure what engine you have but one thing the HD filter is and that is synthetic material. I believe the WIX is, dont know about HI-FLo but I had an issue with a Hi_flo, cold starts I would get a tapping for a second or two longer than I was comfy with. not sure why and doesnt mean it would happen again but not for me.
Doesnt happen with Fram, HD or Wix. Dont know why it did with Hi-Flo
Fram is a paper filter.
According to Amazon the WIX 57148 is paper too but I am sure that is not correct, I thought it was synthetic too. HD is synthetic
Wix on Rock Auto is $9 and Amazon $14
Here it is, Wix says its synthetic (glass) It even mentions the by-pass valve setting, which by the spec of that low setting you know this is a true motorcycle filter
