.."If the level is below the lower mark, add fluid into the tube to bring it to the upper mark. Always use Honda ATF-Z1 (AutomaticTransmission Fluid). If it is not available, you may use a DEXRON III automatic transmission fluid as a temporary replacement. However, continued use can affect shift quality. Have the transmission flushed and refilled with Honda ATF-Z1 as soon as it is convenient."
Without consulting my OM or googling, that looks correct. That said, my thought now about that OM statement in a nutshell...Oh The Irony! That special Z1 juice was as noted, nothing special. In fact 'my reading' of this subforum, one of the most criticized ATFs anecdotally of any fluid discussed on this board. And at least one member (Jim Allen iirc) had analysis done showing severe shearing of the fluid. After all that it does make me ponder, would Dex III really have been that bad for the trans? And another reason besides significant anecdotal experience, I'm confident MaxLife Full Syn at bare minimum the performance equivalent of Z1, but really a performance improvement.
As for trans filter, it is serviceable but requires removal of air box and a perhaps the throttle body intake hose. It is though completely external to the trans itself. Link diagram shows location.

That said, I've read comments similar to one this thread. Those that had done regular trans d&fs, found it to be in good shape. I pm'd another member cchase after he changed his ~83k miles and he said similar, didn't look bad. If interested at some point link has good information, scroll to member "namegoeshere".

They do sell kits too. I don't vouch for ebay seller, but does show parts and parts listing.

As for pressure switches, my thought, if the trans shifting fine don't mess with them. In other words one of those, if it ain't broke, don't fix it.
