2000 Tundra 4.7 - 235k miles.

Current owner has used synthetic oil at 6-7.5k intervals since 70K.

Valve covers were removed due to leakage; all of the gaskets were rock-hard.

Whats not to like. Lactory fresh on the inside. I'll bet the tolerances are also still as good as almost new.

My parent loves theirs. 140k miles on a 2000 Tundra v8 4x4 and not a single issue with engine except difficult to change starter. Apparently a timing belt engine but dealer cut a massive break on labor price when rotted frame was replaced because it was easier.

Looks pretty dang clean...
I have been very happy with our 2001 Tundra; well except for the lousy gas mileage!
Thanks for the pic Michael.

My guess is that it's where the pcv outlet is located.

Toyota has been using that setup for the last 30 years - and it's a scissors gear setup with a spring-loaded subgear to prevent gear clash which = noise.

It looks like a greatly simplified version of the non-VVT Lexus 1UZ/3UZ-FEs, the 2UZ-FE got VVT-i in 2004-2005. The entire intake cam on the VVT-i versions have to be pulled to service the cam seal.

The 283,327,350 were the best of the Chevy small blocks
The 267,307,305 were dogs at best
