Well don't just sit there, add some posts to get to 10!

Part of life … there are high end outfitters here building and installing all the kits, bumpers, cammo skin … they even did an old Dodge for Ted Nugent … Mostly young guys willing to spend the money … go on excursions … take hunting … to the dunes … camping etc … post on Facebook … Probably makes a small boring town interesting for them.

A bro truck is one that is lifted by 3 inches or more, rolling on 33's with custom wheels, an exhaust outlet that can hold a watermelon, blacked out windows, glaring aftermarket lights, and usually the fastest vehicle on the road intimidating other drivers. They are all over here in Texas, it's basically a subculture really. I usually stay away from bro trucks while driving because they will cut you off and speed to no end and if they hit you their bumper is going straight through your windows. Fun fact, bro trucks spin out all the time when the roads are wet here and they have a high death rate due to rollovers.

I see that some of you have top trim level STOCK pickup trucks. Those are not bro trucks, what you have is a classy, luxurious pickup and I would consider you a normal member of society.

I witnessed one of those rollovers. Bro truck must have been doing 45mph and a quick lane change on a rainy morning sent him rolling to the side of the road. There were no injuries though.

Here is an article about a brodozer fest that was in terrahaute up until getting run out after last year.

Removing the EPA-mandated filters or disabling internal computers does not make a truck go faster or improve it in any form other than aesthetic. Actually in this instance it is fake news.
The last vehicle I tampered with the emissions was my 74 Chevy pick up . I put headers and worked on the carburetor. I even Hooked up the Air plumbing so it worked Then I used the same idea to plumb the headers on my boat to inject water instead of air it cooled off the exhaust as well as quieted the boat down a bit..

Why does anyone do what they do? ... because the WANT to. Who gives a ____ if someone does something that doesn't effect you or isn't against the law.

You mean like the original premise of this thread? Is there a merit badge in disrespecting and judging anyone with a lifted truck?

Respect goes both ways. Respect the rights of individuals to drive what they want. And respect the rights of others by not vandalizing their property by doing donuts in someones field , modifying your vehicle into a gross polluter, or making sooo much noise that you annoy everyone within earshot.

Yep, respect all around is sorely lacking.

In the instructions that come with those lift kits it says to follow speed limits and handling characteristics may change because it's modified beyond the manufacturers intended design. Yet those guys drive like they are in a NASCAR race.

I call those guys tards who can't get a CDL and yet their lift can't even match windows with me.

My last was my E24 M6; as I noted in another topic, the overly restrictive catalyst fell off in the garage one weekend. Fortunately I had a Jet Hot coated h-pipe to replace it. The S38 I-6 sounded glorious sans cat- not loud or droning, but a nice rumble.

Please stay on topic, save your political commentary for somewhere else.

I'd rather not lock this, however I'm not removing anymore off topic commentary.

Also if you quote a post with off topic commentary, and reply to it, your post is going away also.

So just send a notify and resist the urge to respond to posts that are trolling for outrage.

Every state has vehicle regulations that lifted vehicles/trucks must fall within. So why doesn't the law crack down on them? Remember back when all the 4-cylinder "Fast & Furious" guys were screaming around with wide open exhaust systems (illegal noise levels) ... now I hardly see/hear any around here anymore because the law just kept giving out tickets left and right until the guys figured they better knock it off or become poor from never ending fines.

Why do people buy Corvettes, etc with a 150+ mph top end?

Why aren't they accused of "compensating"?

(Answer: It's apparently OK to "Bubba bash")

They are ... or it's because of a "mid life crisis".

People should be able to drive what they like provided is is legal(ish) to register and operate, any text or images are not explicitly vulgar and it doesn't pose a safety risk to others on the road.

Who determines that? Sounds like an infringement on the first amendment.

Think the FCC and state and federal government do. You can be ticketed on public highways and roadways in most states as it stands now for the type of content I meant, like full monty style porno bumper stickers depicting graphic sex acts or text that's an implied threat or suggestion.

I was suggesting the bear minimum necessary to operate a vehicle on public roads without incurring significant legal or public scrutiny and or consequences. and not trying to have a debate about overreach. Personally I think if you have an old Chevy van painted with the front and back sides of that famous Pink Floyd poster with the pretty ladies or some of Ron Jeremy's finest works, well that's awesome, but I'm not getting in between you and a not so constitutionally minded cop whose writing the citation for it.
