They weren't made to merge at speed that's for sure. Still, with their mechanical injection and idle control knob on the dash they were way cool, like the steam train of of the automotive world and possibly one of the very few cars that would survive an EMP attack.

There allegedly used to be some US Govt Agency that tested these things and pretty much all cars tested survived a simulated EMP attack. The body acts as a Faraday cage.

Course the most likely EMP attack would be accompanied by a thermonuclear explosion, which might give even a Merc 240D some difficulties.

But perhaps you weren't being entirely serious...
