If it doesn't break too much the much higher fuel efficiency balances out higher diesel fuel prices and makes it cheaper to run. At least in Utah it seems diesel is higher about 9 months out of the year. In the used market they seem to be going for very attractive prices diesel or gas version.

There is also the niche factor, fun factor, torque factors as well.

Did this model get affected in the "dieselgate" thing?

Congrats.
Just be aware of NOx sensors and heater unit in DEF tank. Heater unit goes for $206 as far as I remember (same as on BMW X5 and MB's).
Is 2012 with 225hp or 240hp?

Yes, this Touareg was affected and has been brought into compliance by VW. I went diesel because diesel is cheaper than premium in my area because the gas Touareg is a dog. Slower with dismal efficiency.

Last year for the 225hp CATA engine. All the "trouble spots" are covered for 4/48 and then it will get tuned with the swirl flaps, EGR, DPF, SCR, and AdBlue deleted.

And you will hold a "warranty" with a tune, HOW?

Oh I will. This is my idea of "basic transportation."

Cool.

I like what I see. I must take a closer look at one of these.

If it's NOT an overpriced European Wondermachine (or merely touted to be one) it could be a long-legged winner.

By "long-legged" I mean a turbo diesel which eats mile after mile. Does this turbo do well in the higher altitudes?

My uncle (in 5,500 ft. Nevada) swore by his turbo Chrysler LeBaron.

As the Germans say, "Wieviel gelt?" (how much money?)

And, what are flakers?

I'm still disappointed with the decision to get rid of a 911....

Meh. OP made similar downsizes/changes to what I've made, and I enjoy my vehicles just as much as ever. I bet OP enjoys this one, too.

I intend to keep this car until 2025 and beyond. By my math it should be well on its way to 200k miles in that time. The torque is unreal. The economy is unreal for a vehicle of its size and capability.

I paid $14,5 OTD. There are deals to be had.

Flaker - someone who is interested in the car, wants to come see the car, wants to buy the car, etc... And then they back out on you at the last possible second. One guy from TX paid for a PPI to be done on the car, loved it, was going to come get it Friday, etc etc etc - and backed out at like 10 pm on Thursday.

It was for sale, it could have been yours!

Congrats!

I wouldn't call it a downsizing. The 911 was great when I didn't need to saddle up for 80+ miles a day with tools. Its shortcomings as a daily driver became readily apparent and this is more comfortable, more economical, and has plenty of room.

There is always another 911.

Maybe not. Going from a Z06 corvette to a Jeep Grand Cherokee didn't affect mine enough for me to even remember. maybe $10/mo?

You'd think so. -$43/6mo.

That's about what I figured. 400# torque at 1700ish rpm does sound legit! I know I loved every big v8 I had and my turbo 4 for their low rpm torque. It isnt reflected in acceleration numbers, per se, but it's an awesome feels thing.

They figure insurance premiums based on torque in your neck of the woods? Odd.

Congrats! Nice choice with the diesel.....hate to see the 911 go though.

Enjoy.

'Flakers' are tiring...almost as much as the "I'll give you (~75% of a fair asking price) in cash..today/tomorrow!", and then keep calling/emailing like you are an obvious fool for not taking their sub lowball offer. Now, I usually don't sell niche vehicles outside of the marque forums or on consignment through a specialist dealer....just not worth the headaches and waste of time.

Congratulations! Wishing you many happy miles.

Our Audi has Volkswagen parts and the P-Car has some Audi hardware.
One big happy family, albeit occasionally dysfunctional at times.

Long commute notwithstanding hope to see you in a weekender Porsche again soon.

I always enjoyed the TDI "scoot" from that torque. Sure would be fun to drive one of the big ones.
