Soliciting thoughts- 2019 DRW F350 stolen (salvage but clear title)

A friend just put Katzkin leather covers on an XL. I don’t remember what they cost but it was much less than I thought. You could get black leather from them for the fronts to match your new rears.

No keys, high miles, wonder if the rear taillights were messed with? If the price is right, I guess. Quite the gamble here.

SS,

Yes, that F350 is a pass. If one was local.... and the price was right, maybe. No idea what it costs to have new keys made. This truck will more likely than sell for well over $20k at auction.

Replaced the windshield wiper cage and cowl this morning. Fairly easy job, but required a whole lot of tools. Glad I did this at home with the tool box close by. I was going to do this at work during lunch.

Number one item I was glad to have on hand was silicone paste. Likes frank hot sauce, I use that paste on everything. From the electric connector to the wiper motor, to all the grommets. Even put the paste on both the windshield wiper mounts, and where the blade connects to the wiper blade end.

A controversial thing I did was replace the cowl. About $250 from a Ford dealer on eBay. Likely $500 from local Seattle dealer. Old cowl weather stripping was starting to crumble. I think on a vehicle of this nature, the natural thing to do is reuse the old cowl. I thought best to spend the money and replace the cowl. But the costs do add up.

What is your preferred brand of silicone paste?

EH,

That is a great question and one I struggle with often. I "containment" a lot of silicone paste, along with using a lot of paste, so am regularly buying the stuff.

3M is my default brand, but it os often 2x more expensive than many other brands at AMZN. And at times the 3M brand has delaye shipping. I will take a picture tonight when I get home of what I used today. I buy decent sized jars......

Permanently mounted the satellite/navigation shark fin antenna at lunch. Made the just b significantly more than it needed to be.

On a good note, the first antenna I ordered was satellite only. I decided not to return it which ended up being a blessing.

I erroneously thought when the car thieves ripped out the sat nav antenna, the ripped out the antenna mount on the cab if the truck..I designed a mount out of washers and such.

As I went to install my retrofit mount, I kept looking and reviewing. Realized Ford's design is for a cheap mount to easily brake away if the antenna is hit. That is why no damage to the cab roof when the thieves ripped out the old antenna.

I was able to take a piece from the wrongly ordered antenna, and use it on the replacement antenna. All fits as it should. I am surprised the Ford factory mount works, as it just barley holds..but I understand why Ford did this. Take out the antenna instead of the cab.

All the washers and my custom design were of no use, but it was fun trying to find a retrofit solution.

Both exterior door mirrors have LARGE cracks (as seen in pics).

Ford sells a chrome mirror cover part number VFL3Z17D742F (CHROME MIRROR CAPS FOR TELESCOPING TRAILER). Problem is every dealer I tried to buy these from were out of stock. The really good news is that RockAuto sells the exact mirror from the OEM PUTCO 401162 Chrome Mirror Covers.

I will post the front and back final results at a later time.

I think the antenna is painted, typically. Either way, looks good!
RH,

All the 2019 F350 King Ranch come with a black sharkskin antenna- regardless of exterior color. I know- weird...

Hmmm. My 2019 F-150 was painted. Maybe an F-350 or King Ranch thing.

Did RA include the refridg magnet with your order?

At this point its going to have one of his vehicles on it
WM,

I had thought to send this to RockAuto to have a magnet made (just thought- not seriously).

One owner, dealer maintained S class with 43k miles that I won at auction for $300 (before fees). Out of all my goofy rebuilds, this one was likely the most shocking for me.

Finished the wiring for the rooftop lights. Although I can't mount the lights yet as I am waiting for two small OEM nuts, as soon as the nuts arrive to install the lamps should be just a few minutes.

I extended the wiring for the roof lamps by about six inches. The OEM way have only a 1/4 of play to disconnect the wiring plug from the lamp socket. I can now remove the lamp socket without disconnecting the lamp plug from the top of the cab roof.

Cleaned the interior for the first time. Everything is nice for a four year old truck. A few four your old trucks are pristine, the rest are trashed. This is neither.

The interior is complete less the king ranch back seats. I do have black leather rear seats until I find the king ranch rear seats.

The exterior has a many scratches, bumps, and little dents. I will find find replacement exterior parts over time, zero rush. If the exterior was perfect or near perfect, it would be something that would worry me day or night to keep perfect. Now I get to use the truck as it was intended, not a show piece but a really comfortable work truck.

Is that Flex Seal over that hole?
No, its just wide electric tape. I really messed up using shipping tape, and then leaving the shipping tape on for six weeks when I worked OCONUS. I can't get the shipping tape off. Nut it is on the roof, so in time it should break down. But another of many lessons learned.
