Rock Auto $1.50 filter

Does any one use them, if so opinions of construction and filtering quality.

$1.50 each is right up my alley. Just figured i throw it out there and see what you Oil and Filter Gurus have to say.

Buy one and cut it open. The way that it is constructed will tell you a lot as to who is making it, and if you actaully want to use it on your car or not.

I looked at those but the shipping turned me off.

Figured I'd wait for advance auto's 2 for 1 purolator constructed sale... final price $1.44.

Probably real close to what the quick lubes use.

That is my usual source of filters. But it never hurts to have a back up plan.

Advance Auto Parts no longer carries the red house brand filter.
Bummer.

AA and pep boys usually also have decent sales on purolators at least once a year. I keep a years supply around.

Supertech has been my backup plan the last few years but by stashing I haven't needed them that often.

I would think at $2.77 Supertechs would be money better spent. Are the filters made in China?

This is a good buy when Advanced Auto doesn't run their house brand sales for around $1.50.
