Lake Speed JR (Certified Lubrication Specialist) test's these two oils to find out their base oil chemistry. This is a YouTube video that talks about the differences between Quaker State Full Synthetic & Pennzoil Full Synthetic.

It answers the question of whether or not QSFS is using gas to liquid or not. QSFS doesn't include gas to liquid & Pennzoil does employ GTL. Very interesting video for you to watch. Lake Speed goes over the additive packs also.

I've started it at the 2:20 minute mark to eliminate some other conversations not pertaining to this data.

Both well known brands. QS being the more budget friendly oil and PZ being the top tier offering. QS / Supertech with the Dexos 1 G3 ratings are hard to beat for value.

The question is, over 200,000 miles, would you be able to actually see any differences between the QS and PZ…

Pennzoil and Quaker State make motor oils that are the same viscosity, the same specification, and they are made in the same plant. Could they actually be the same oil? We analyzed a bottle of Pennzoil Platinum 5W-30 Synthetic and Quaker State 5W-30 Synthetic to find out. Watch as Certified Lubrication Specialist, Lake Speed Jr, reveals the findings. The results are quite interesting...

So is it the same or not? I don't want to give them any free clicks?

Right, While Pennzoil is using GTL they are decreasing the add pack as a result. So, It may be that both of these products are on equal footing in testing. I do know that QS claims a 300k warranty while PZ GTL claims a 500k warranty. Does that mean the GTL is better even with a lower add pack, I don't know, but it appears to be better based on their warranty claim. 😄

Not the same, QS is not using Gas to Liquid while Pennzoil is.
This is the SDS I have fo QSFS 5w-30. Its dated 2020. Isn't this saying its GTL? I am not an expert on this - this is a question not a statement?

Want a lube that provides good wear control and cleanliness? You have to blend an oil taking into account the base stock and additive package with the use/spec goal in mind.

Just because a lube has more of element "X" and less of "Y", along with base stock "Z" but not "Q", does not mean it is automatically better or worse in every application.

There are many roads to the same destination. Should this surprise anyone here?

Both oil samples chosen meet Dex1Gen3 spec.

Summary:

Pennzoil: GLT base oil allows less additive to meet the Dex1Gen3 spec.
QS: Non-GTL base oil requires more additive to meet the Dex1Gen3 spec.
That's my thinking too but still doesn't explain why they offer 500k warranty w/GTL vs 300k warranty w/GRP III.

Let's be honest there is testing w/data in this video here.
Where did I say there wasn't?
The TLDR was sufficient.
I dont like most of project farm's videos either as they are basically entertainment only..
although there is testing there. I did like the plier testing..... ;)

No, That's not my main surprise. This video answered a good question in regards to QSFS using GTL or not. The add pack was just the details. To be fair though they didn't advertise QSFS as having GTL.

You didn't but give credit where it is due. This answered a question that some here had. That is good information if you ask me. Not "Didn't miss much". I understand that there are personallity differences with some of these tubers I get that but this is informative IMO.
