We've had our GE set for about 3 years now, it has been great. No auto detergent on mine but otherwise it should be similar. The Microban door seal on the washer is great, as well as the venting feature. GE is one of very few manufacturers that have reversible doors on the washers which in my case was needed as I have dryer on the left and washer on the right.

Wife liked the Microban and venting feature.

My Maytag dryer stopped heating last week for the second time. The first time it was the heating element. So we ordered an LG replacement dryer for $1200. But I thought I should have the exhaust vent cleaned first. The technician got an unbelievable amount of lint out! He encouraged me to fix the Maytag because the lint buildup can cause problems so I replaced the heater myself, for $90. It works great now. I clean mine every 3 years. I have a run that's just over 6 feet long and all solid pipe, but if it was longer and/or flex tube I'd do it annually.

Not cleaning vent increases drying time. And blows thermal fuses in dryer. Many dryers replaced because thermal fused blown. Which are cheap diy fix.
