Ford Model Ts out for a drive today

Being splash lubed model T’s called for a light oil that could easily penetrate journals without washing away. Also specified an oil for engines not gears.
1000 mile oil change intervals.

A Light oil as described later became a 20wt oil.

Ford described the transmission as a 3 speed, low gear was only in reverse.

My grandfather had a heavily modified doodlebug that was chopped with a very short wheelbase.

It had spark, timing and AFR right in front of you, to start you slid them all over , it would pop then you quickly moved spark toward the middle.

As it heated up you had to adjust the spark, timing and choke to get it running smoothly

You didn’t have a gas pedal, it was like a riding lawn mower with hand controls on the throttle

That third one looks like an A not a T but I'm not certain.
Gas tank on the driver's lap, it is a Model A. I think either a Model A Fordor Sedan or a Model A Town Sedan.

A Model T had to be driven backwards up steeper hills because of the location of the gas tank. On a steeper hill the gravity fed gas could not get to the carburetor. The Model A corrected that by placing the gas tank in the front, basically on the driver's lap.
