    Just rolled over 50,000 miles

On my 2009 Harley Superglide TC 96”. My son and I rode about 90 miles Sunday and the old girl ran as good as the day I bought it. I hadn’t ridden since mid November and At 72 I don’t ride as much as I used to, but it’s in the garage when I need to scratch the itch.

Recommendations for a pressure washer surface cleaner

For large concrete driveway/sidewalks/deck. Looking at the Dewalt 18” at Home Depot but it doesn’t have wheels. Would a wheeled model be better on such a large area? Pressure washer is a 3,000 psi Excell with a 2.5 gpm pump.

    Radar Detectors

Does anyone here have experience with them? On a recent day trip I could have easily gotten a speeding ticket from a local city cop in the small town we visited. He was hidden and monitoring traffic from a small business as we were leaving town. I was going about 8 mph over in a 35 mph zone...

    A/C compressor clutch squeal

On my old 2005 Chevy 5.3 with 243,000 miles. A/C has always worked great but has recently developed an intermittent squeal which I suspect is the clutch bearing. Squeals especially when cold, but lessens after warming up. I took the a/c belt off and no noise. I can get a new complete AC Delco...

    Curb find : Stihl blower

My son found an old Stihl SH85 hand held blower/vacuum at the curb in his neighborhood a couple days ago and gave it to me. It started good but wouldn’t take gas it just bogged down when applying even slight throttle. I’m thinking new carb at first but then thought the spark arrestor might be...

Lube Gard Red 10 oz in a high mileage 4L60E

With 243,000 miles as a potential maintenance dose? Transmission shifts good but considering the mileage would it be a good thing to do or should I leave it alone? Capacity is 11 qts and I do siphon and fill about 3 qts a couple of times a year and the fluid is clean and a bright red and doesn’t...

    DirecTV/Nexstar dispute

My local Fox station has been off the air since July 2nd due to a rate dispute with Nexstar. Has anyone else here been affected? We have the options of receiving Fox local channels over the air or a plethora of streaming options, Fubo etc. I’m about ready to cut the cord!

My old Honda HRS21 push mower…

That I bought new in March of 1990. I bought a self propelled JD and basically forgot about it. It’s been in a corner of the basement for 15 years so I pulled it out today cleaned it up, drained the old brown gas, cleaned the carb, added fresh gas along with a dose of Berryman chem tool, changed...

    Old pressure washer/new pump

The old style “wobble“ pump on my old Excell 2600 psi with the 5 hp Honda GC160 is getting tired. Pressure seems to have dropped the last couple of times I’ve used it. I checked the nozzles, water inlet and outlet, wand etc plus It’s also 15 years old so I bought a new axial pump off of Amazon...

    Gertag G80 LS diff..Redline 75w90?

2008 Pontiac Solstice GXP with 32,000 miles and diff oil has never been changed. It has some intermittent chatter in low speed turns. Redline has the additive in it but the container says additional LS additive can be used if diff still has chatter. Should I preemptively add some LS additive...

Vaseline on battery posts and cable connections?

Back in the day many people would put a thin coat of petroleum jelly on their battery connections to keep corrosion at bay. I’ve personally never used it but on my wife’s new/old 2008 Pontiac Solstice GXP with the 2.0T the negative battery cable connection was corroded so bad I ordered new cable...

March Madness : Who you pulling for ?

I’ve been a Duke fan since 1964. They’re young and starting 4 freshman and 1 Junior so I don’t think they’ll go far in the NCAA tournament this year, but they did sweep UNC this season and the Tarheels didn’t even make the tournament, so I’m good. My picks for the final four...

LSPI { low speed pre ignition } is scary…GM 2.0T

After buying my wife’s 2008 Pontiac Solstice 2.0 T with the automatic transmission and only 32,000 miles I’ve done a lot of reading on this problem with the early, and to some extent the current DI engines and not just GM engines. Recommendation’s of different oils, to certain brands and octane...

Wife bought a 2008 Pontiac Solstice GXP and it has a ton of weatherstripping around the convertible top that’s in good shape as the car has always been garaged, but looking for the best product for preserving its 15 year old weatherstripping. How should I clean the weatherstripping before...

    Wife’s retirement gift…

My wife retired from the USPS on 12/30/22 so….we bought her a little red sports car { imagine that }! She has always loved the Pontiac Solstice and had been checking them out on the WWW for a couple of years. She would occasionally find one in an EBay listing and ask me what I thought...

    Battery maintainer and sensitive electronics

My wife retired on 12/30/22. Her car, a 2013 Lexus ES350 has been sitting in the garage and only driven a couple of short trips for the last month. I have a spare Schumacher SC 1355 1.5 amp maintainer and would like to use it to keep the battery charged as her car has a lot of parasitic drain on...

    CCW permit renewal

My CCW permit was set to expire 9/22/22 so I filled out the 6 pages of questions, signed and notarized 3 of the pages and hand delivered the papers to my county’s sheriffs office in early August, plenty of time…at least I thought, to get my renewal before it expired. Just got an email that my...

    Melling water pump

I remember Bill Elliott being sponsored by Melling in the 80’s in the NASCAR number 9 Ford when they were widely known for they’re oil pumps. They seem to have branched out into other engine parts in the last few years. My 2005 Chevy 5.3 needs a new a/c compressor belt (cracked) so I decided to...
