Tires for Tacoma

I went through this a year ago- what I remember:

1. cooper AT3 scored the best cumulative score for both dirt and road traction, stability, braking, steering.

2. if your taco is sprung anything like my tundra, an LT tire will beat you up. Are the Long Trails LT? I don't think they have enough siping for adequate rain traction under an unloaded bed.

3. i loved the look of the duratrack. I was very interested in it - tire shop advised against it due to noise complaints increasing as they age beyond a year.

4. I ended up buying the Cooper RTX at NTB. It's AT, traditional looking tread. I am pleased with them. They balanced out very well, they drive well, they have been good in the rain so far, they handle towing loads well, and offer more gravel/dirt traction than the dueler LE2s they replaced. Only observation is they do tend to flat-spot on cold nights and need a couple of miles to warm up in the morning.

Tried and true. Also consider the Firestone Destination AT.
