Ya those are bad. It's normal for tires to have a few cracks but that tire in the picture was completely dry rotted. Look at the DOT number on the tire. It is recommended that tires are replaced every 6 years.

303 works. alot of the cheaper tire shine does it.
I bought rims with some 2 year old falkens off someone who washed and shined them weekly.
I was going to give the tires to a friend when I put the winter tires on. The inside of the tires looked like new..
the outside was so dangerously cracked and rotted from the tire shine the tire place wouldnt mount them.
but since I just wanted rims it didnt really make much difference to me. Just my friend with bald tires :\

I find the best thing is no protectant whatsoever. I spray and wipe mine with Nano Wax when I wash my car. Pledge works well too,shines and doesn`t cause dry-rot like Armor All type protectants.
