Synthetic oil properties approaching pour point.

I'm not sure about there being a minimum pour point for 0w-XX oils, but there are MRV and CCS values that must be met. You can search the SAE J300 for the various values.

I'd even be cautious about a 0w-30 when trying to go immediately to 3000 rpm under -40 ambient temperatures. It's not going to take excessively long to get at least some flow, but immediately going to 3000 rpm is a recipe for disaster. Nonetheless, compare the MRV values of various 0w-30 oils available at your location. That, or figure out a way to send some heat into that sump.

Thanks Garak. We will be requesting more spec info re MRV &CCS from our oil suppliers.
