Yes, I use Shell Rotella 15W40 in the Ford 351W in my boat. It seems to work well. I use Rotella in almost all the cars, trucks, lawn mowers. The only exception is the Subaru in the winter. It's too cold for 15W40 in the winter without pre-heat.

Rotella is also available in 5W-40.
It is available in quite a few grades, but I would think 5W-40 would have a better chance of Sheering than 15W-40!

I wouldn't hesitate to use it. I use Rotella in my older flat tappet cars, my motorcycles and my gas engine boat. The only reason it lost its gasoline rating was the high ZDDP with is important for older engines. Use with confidence.
