Recommendations for car project

Get a 350 crank, and turn the 305 into a mild 334-cid mill.
Find a 1970’s h-body - Monza, Starfire, Skyhawk, Sunbird.
Build a fun, quick, 1980’s style hot rod!
Maybe I’m showing my age here…

This was my original thought, but use an El Camino body for the build or put in a VW bug for a Baja bug

All replies so far have been very thought provoking. I really appreciate the comments. I'm sitting on the fence as to whether to commit to this project, or scrap the whole idea. There's a whole lot of wisdom on this site

Sometimes the squeeze isn't worth the juice- all the effort to convert for a 305. If you want a v8, overlooked is the LS 4.8 with trans- probably giving them away.

Why not spend or trade the 305 for a decent motor. Would you have gone out and bought a 305 ? Seriously doubt it, so why waste your time installing it if you never were interested in motor in first place .

The Chevy 4.3 V6 is a good engine to swap into a CJ and a fair # of people have done that swap….
96 & up comes with the Vortec heads, you can get a cast iron marine 4 bbl intake or even an Edelbrock alu manifold & a 4 bbl carb of your choice, good for about 225 hp
