Hi,

There will always be variances on a theme but this extract from Opel's brochure on the new Vectra and their Longlife oils tells its own story;

"Topping up with oil is an art of its own......

There are two things that are very bad for engines: too much oil or too little oil.
On account of that, check the oil when the engine is at normal operating temperature. After that, it is important to let the engine rest for five minutes before removing the dipstick. Otherwise, you run the risk of ending up with too much oil in the engine.
The ideal oil level for your engine is when the fluid on the dipstick is mid-way between MIN and MAX. If you're unsure, drop into your friendly Opel dealer. The staff there will be happy to show you how to read the dipstick correctly."

Well - how about that!

The petrol engined car is scheduled for two years or 30000 kms oil changes - the diesel engine variant goes for two years or 50000 kms!

Regards
