bought a new to me truck.

it's a 2003 silverado 1500 with the 4.3 engine. has anyone any real world experience with the mobil 1 truck & suv oil? how does it compare to regular mobil 1, and mobil 1 extended performance? my truck has 49,500 miles on it and it's gonna have to last at least another 100,000 miles.

We have a 04 Silverado 5.3 and I use Havoline Synthetic. It runs quiet and like new at 40K miles. I think M1 in this case would be a good oil. I stress to look at the UOA reports. I may switch the truck to PP since the reports look great.

Those engines are prone to coolant intake leaks. Some only get a trace - some get damaging amounts. Either get a UOA done occasionally - or perhaps revert to a bargain synthetic or syn-blend and change the oil more often. I change mine every 5K using Quaker State synthetic.
