And no one here, outside of a lab, measures their fuel economy without an error bar of 10% or greater. Gokhan's 15% estimate is probably more realistic, especially if at least something isn't done to control other variables. 10% is basically measurement error alone.
I'll let someone else explain basic significant figures this time. People believe rat gets 6 significant figures on his magic machine, so I suppose it shouldn't surprise me that they believe that gas pumps can read to the nearest millilitre.
