Viscostiy retetion as well. A uoa tells how the oil is holding up.There are other things as well, moisture and coolant leaks.Wear and damage maybe. Any of todays oils from the majors are top quality and aren't the oils from the 1960s.

I have conventional Valvoline white bottle 5w30 on deck to run in my Altima 3.5 VQ. It's just what you say it is.
