It is a creeping somewhat gooey oil that penetrates. That's the best way I can describe it.

Yeah I like that method, would be great for a used car even if it has a small amount of rust starting. Does it need to be re-applied every so often?

Yes, my experience has been that it pretty much stops rust dead in its tracks, which is quite useful

The normal process is to get the whole vehicle sprayed once a year. I also keep a can or two on hand for "touch ups" as some parts of the vehicle really seem to soak the stuff up and get dry, while others remain fully wet with oil for the entire year.

Subsequent applications of the product slow the drying up process in these spots and eventually the whole vehicle just stays "wet" underneath.

I had good luck with Amsoil HD Metal Protector [?]. My next new vehicle will get Fluid Film. I wish there was a place that rustproofs cars, between the EPA, and high costs to do business on Long Island I haven't seen one around anymore.

How far are you from the border? You could always give us a visit

Long Island Nassau/Queens border, 230 miles from Lake George if that helps.

plus they will drill holes and destroy your underbody.
just wash your car where there is an underbody spray, I wash mine at sams club and they have a fantastic under body spray.
at the end of the season, I take my garden hose and go under the vehicle and blast everywhere and wash off the salt.

I welcome you to try that tactic up here and see how long your vehicle remains rust-free.

So true.. I have been using Krown for many years and I can tell you that this stuff works. It also helps in the resale value of your car if it has been treated with Krown. I know a couple of Saab owners from Boston that make the trip up here to have there cars treated.

You are 383 miles from Kingston, Ontario (relatively near where I get my car sprayed). If that's a manageable distance, I'd highly recommend you making the trip up

I remember seeing so many newer cars with rust on them in central NY state. I guess it is pretty significant.

Both Krown and RustCheck work great in the rust belt. RustCheck is available in limited areas here in the states and growing. Defintly stops rust in its tracks, even in Grand Rapids.

30 years ago I would've said yes, but today the rust treatments done by the automakers are so good that undercoating isn't really necessary. I live in the midwest where they salt the heck out of roads and I've had very little to no rust problems with my vehicles...

Have you witnessed any of the newer Toyota truck frame rust problems? Rust happens! Products like Krown and Rust Check prevent issues like that from happening.

I've seen many, MANY late model vehicles from ALL manufacturers with rust up here. Nobody is immune. The only rust-free ones are the ones that are oiled.

My Daughter has a '94 Corolla. No rust. I just sold a '99 Corolla that had no rust. 3 years ago I sold a '93 Tercel that had no rust. My other Daughter's '98 Civic was sold 2 years ago with no rust. My '04 Corolla has no rust. I don't see a problem with rust...

What does Krown charge to rust proof an average vehicle? I just got a quote from Ziebart for $600 to do my Liberty which seems high.

I see lots of 6-10 year old cars up by me with often-significant amounts of rust. It's across all brands. So I do undercoat our cars with Fluid Film in the aerosol cans. Anywhere there's a crevice, it gets applied until it drips. I figure it will help control rust on non-replaceable things like rocker panels and subframe attachment points.

Grampi, over here in mid state No. Indiana most "not all, but most" cars start showing rust at the 6 to 8 year age, some even earlier than that. Neither my 01 Escort or 03 Rio have this rust problem. They have both been treated by RustCheck in South Bend. Then spot treated as necessary with Fluid Film.

Actually, Randall's Auto Body out in Southampton applies Waxoyl to vehicles. Its a product that dries up similar to Amsoil HDMP.

Ive used them before to apply waxoyl to my 82 300CD.

Carwell is the same product as Krown, in the USA. They are in NYS.

Ive used the Krown in Kingston, Ontario: http://www.bobistheoilguy.com/forums/ubbthreads.php?ubb=showflat&Number=1933517

Thanks for the info. I'll look into the place in South Hampton. For the price Ziebart quoted I'll buy the stuff get dirty, and do it myself again. I didn't realize it was so expensive.

A small SUV is ~$125.00 IIRC.

I got the M5 sprayed this afternoon by my buddy who works there. We took all the bottom panels off, hot washed it, and then went to town. Took about 2hrs.

Thanks OVERKILL. Here's what they offered for $599: This includes upper body sections get internally fogged with a sealant. Hollow areas of the underbody and frame get seam penetrating sealer. And the under side gets an undercoating. This is backed by a 10 year rust through warranty as long as you return for annual maintenance. Inspections are $45.00.
