Yearly Car Maintenance Cost?

IMO, yearly maintenance cost is an arbitrary number. Cost per mile is a much better measure. I use the Fuelly app to track fuel and maintenance costs for my 2012 Ram CTD and the wife's 2014 T&C.

According to the app my maintenance costs are
$9,301.44 for my Ram for 59,091 miles or $0.1574/mile. Owned since 2016
$1,722.86 for my T&C for 57,788 miles or $0.0298/mile. Owned since 2017

Doing about 90% DIY car maintenance on my 10 year old Jeep Patriot (bought new), the cost per mile is about $0.04. About $4,000 over 10 years.

Tires, Brakes, OIl/filters, Eng/cabin filters, Wipers, Tranny/steering Fluid, Battery, HVAC blend motor, Sway bar links, belt/tensioner/pulleys, door repaint & PDR, Biannual detail.

Very pleased with low cost of ownership to date. Bigger ticket items still to come like struts, etc..
