The only problem with the last year is that you're now driving the old model around. Maybe a year or two before the last.
I thought MB was going down the drain with the 2017 E300, just a 4 cylinder and no 6 available. But then they came out with the E400 which has a v6 in 2018, and now in 2019, they're going to come out with the E350 again and that will have about 52 more hp than the previous model. So it would have been better to wait 2 years after a new model in that case.
