In the period from 1970 to 1990 recommended oil changes varied between 5,000 miles and 7,500 miles. The 7.500 mile oil OC interval would be found in the 1975 Oldsmobile and the 1977 Chevelle manuals.
I find this surprising because my 1970 Chevy Nova SS 396/375 stated in the manual every 2,000 miles for oil AND filter.
You too!
We had a 1970 Nova, Forest Green, with a 350 ci engine and a Rochester two-barrel carb, and manual tranny. The OM as I recall suggested 3,500 miles for Severe Service and 5,000 miles for normal service.
Needless to say, our driving style was a bit above
Severe Service so I changed oil every 2,500 miles.
