With proper filtration, and a sound engine, it can go as long as your engine takes to deplete the additive package. This is up to you to decide with whatever oil you choose through an oil analysis program over a few years. There are engines out there with over 100,000 miles on the oil with oil analysis, regular filter changes and makeup oil, some additives can be replentished.
