I've seen this oil next to Rotella displays in stores, and was wondering if anyone here has experience with it? It's 30wt and API CC, CD and CF rated. Label says it has high alkalinity and is for heavy equipment use. Any advantage over Rotella? Thanks.

i tried it in my motorbike. i didnt notice any difference with it or rotella, or delo delvac, etc.

seems like a good oil.

Hi,
Shell's Rimula range of Commercial Diesel engine oils is the "only" such product sold by them here in Australia. Specialised Commercial oils are sold here under other Shell market registered names

Shell's Commercial oils (and all of their others) have a great reputation in this country
Their synthetic gear oils have been around for decades and are excellent performers

Regards
Doug

Thanks for the replies. The Rimula seems almost identical to Rotella, that's why I wondered why they were both sold in the same market.

Rotella is an "all-fleet" oil. Rimula is not. Rimula (I'm talking in the USA here) is a heavy diesel oil. It has only much older gasoline ratings.

Just as there is a compromise between (for example) detergents and lubrication in an oil, so too is there a compromise between gasoline and diesel engine needs.

You'll find that in heavier industry (agriculture, mining, lots of stuff) folks don't use "all-fleet" oils as much. They use heavy diesel oils. I'm not knowledgeable enough to talk about specific differences, but you'll find that most or all the major oil companies have a separate heavy diesel oil line.

Those of us who were running farms for example used heavy diesel engine oils in our tractors unless somebody had lots of diesel pickups and didn't feel like having 2 drums or totes in the shed.

Would it be a better choice for a Kubota 50HP tractor than Rotella? That's what I'm currently running.

To be honest, I don't know much about small tractors like Kubotas. I used Case-IH and John Deere. While we had stuff as small as a mid-'60s era 1520 John Deere with a loader (small to me. Compared to your Kubota it would probably be large at least in size if not power), the stuff I used was mostly in the 195-240 PTO hp range. They were Mechanical Front Wheel Drive (MFWD) and were being worked at 85-100% all day every day. On those I'd use a heavy diesel engine oil like Rimula.
