A friend in high school had a Caliente convertible. His had the 6 cyl with an automatic. Cool car but with the 6 and an automatic it pretty slow. Didn't matter though, since it was a convertible he never had trouble getting dates.
Great story. Sounds like '64 Comet Calientes with 260 V8s were very good cars. Where can I buy one?
My '65 Comet with the 289 V8 was not nearly as good. I took care of that car too and it was burning oil and smoking by 85.000 miles. It also had a horrible squeak in the front end and was starting to rust.
PS I do prefer the styling of the '65. For those who don't remember what a '65 looked like, here's a nice one (nicer than mine ever was) - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_2DeS9G3G5s
My wife had a '61 Comet-we called it the Vomit. It didn't make it to 100k miles. I had a '64 Falcon and I got rid of it with 40k miles. Neither were very enjoyable cars.

A friend in high school had a puke green Comet that we dubbed the vomit.
I guess the 103 year old from our last town (insisted on showing me her license) who drove a pristine 1973 Plymouth Scamp (pale green metallic owned since new) doesn't rate as high.
According to the comments, the car is in a museum near me that Ive been too. I don't recall seeing it, though I might have been there before it got there. I'll have to go back.
There was one just like the one in the link in my home town. The owner drove it very hard and seemed to particularly enjoy leaving black stripes on the highway. The stripes were always very similar in length and without a limited slip differential. He traded it in to the dealership where I worked. We opened up the differential and surprised everyone - no limited slip.
A guy I went to college with had a black 64 Caliente two door. It was the first one I had ever seen and I thought it was a pretty cool car. It had a V8 in it but I don't know what size.
