Ok to mix gear oil viscosities?

Changing my diffs running 75W90 in the front and 75W140 in the rear. Need 2.1 quarts for the rear but don't want to buy a 3rd quart. Ok to mix a few oz of 75W90 with 75W140 in the rear?
 
Yes, you'll be fine.

That .1/qt is equal to 3.2oz. That's not going to grenade your diff.
 
I have often mixed the 140 weight stuff with 80w-90, to yield a happy medium of some sort. It's always worked fine with no issues.

I started doing this after using Amsoil Severe gear 75w-110 which is a pretty ideal weight for my application. Don't always need the pricy stuff, so I found it useful to mix the less expensive gear oils that aren't avail in that viscosity.
