The plastic oil filler plug just broke off when I tried to check the oil on an old Briggs and Stratton motor. Just the top part. What kind of thread does it have? Pipe thread? If so I will replace w/pipe plug.

In the classic Corvette business, we say, "You can rebuild 'em a million times but they are original only once!"

stuff a rag in there real good. maybe it will shoot off, but find the rag again and stuff it back in.

This is about a 2 HP motor, so I am guessing 3/8 NPT. Thanks. Did not want to spend $8+ for a piece of plastic.
Just replace it with the proper plastic plug and don't over tighten it. I have had many of those engines and never had that happen before.

If you put something too long into the hole, the oil level will be affected when it overflows as you screw in a plug which is too long.
