Changed the oil in our 2016 edge with the 2.0 ecoboost. Removed the oil filter and noticed the adbv didn’t look right. So I did what any BITOG’r would do and cut it open. It was cut in 3 spots, with 2 going all the way through. The media looked good. I ran a bottle of regane 500mi before changing the oil. Filter looks like it did it’s job filtering butvwas disappointing to see the adbv cuts. This was from a Ford Works oc.

Replaced with a Fram 3614

I used to use these on a Lexus. Then I got several in a row that would start to leak-down and have dry starts very quickly. I never figured out why but perhaps this issue. Switched to Fram Ultra and many great miles since w/no issue.

Have the ADBV breaks all matched the inlet port pattern or some not ?
They all seemed to match up. Here’s my post about it.

Thanks … man, that looks beat down …

Yeah I totally agree duckryder.... The FL 400s and 500s are extremely well made...

The fl 820s is a total junk.

As much as I don't like cut ADBVs, it looks like the cuts are in the thick meaty part of the ADBV and probably didn't cause any real issue with the ADBV function.

The cuts are bad, but should seal a lot tighter to the base than the lip of the adbv itself. You have to wonder what kind of engineers we have these days to make something like an oil filter worse than before not better.

For those that are more knowledgeable than me, is the debris in the bottom of the can carbon? It didn't look metallic. It was in both this filter and the one off of my ecoboost.

Yes.

I used to get a ton of it in my Expedition filters when I started to run M1 in it.
