Why am I not surprised? 
Let me guess, the various bottles of EVOO (Bertolli, Berio, Colavita and Carapelli) are used to keep the bolts organized. I love it!

You must have moved the drill press to the bathroom!
The inside of the aluminum case half's are clean but will get the oil out with the parts washer then rinse with hot water. Then bead blast the outside for appearance sake. Follow with hot water rinse. No nooks or crannies so any risk of leaving behind grit particles inside?
Using the dishwasher of course.

Got the thing apart from my 05 Jetta and waiting on the Transgo repair kit. Kinda reminds me of carburetor rebuilding with all the small bits and different assemblies.

Even if you are not married it would seem a workbench is a better place to work on engines and transmissions.

Yeah… kitchen table is far better. Easy to walk around and leaves the counter free for mid project snack making.
