my sw desert snowbird yaris happily gets 3500 mile/18 month ish, $20, kendall gt1 semisyn oil changes at a superior goodyear tire store. everything that i read about kendall is good.

Nope, nothing like the old days where oil was worn out in 3000 miles.

As mentioned, it is made by Connoco/Phillips and all of their oils are good oils.
They meet API, ILSAC, and ACAE specs and have show to have good VOA and UOA.

I wonder how similar the Kendall Syn blend is to Motorcraft oil?

You mean 2,000 miles, right? That's what the 2 fingers of the Kendall logo were for. (-;

In actual fact, Kendall had some really excellent engineers in place at one time. Doubtless Phillips 66 has good engineers today, too, but at this point Kendall is just a name on a bottle; nothing more, nothing less.
