I am looking for a spin on oil filter adapter for my 1982 Yamaha XJ650J.
Anyone know where to find one?
I checked 'ootfab' web site and it seems he has trouble getting his shipped in a timely manner.

Get out your cred cards.
They used to be about $50; several manufacturers over the years.
Each mfg called for a different filter after install.

NOTE:
This adaptor will work on larger Yamaha engines; v-4s, etc.
Not sure about your particular engine.
Nice to have but this is a bit stiff price wise.
An area chain, Fleet/Farm, agricultural themed, carries the
cartridge element for about $5.
I'd check to see if the '0' ring you use is close to the same size as the Gold Wing/early 4 cy Hondas uses before ordering.
Ask the site owner, perhaps he knows if it will fit yours.

Some bike motors are roller bearing and don't run much oil pressure or volume. Stuff like kit filters and coolers that change the flow could be just enough to do more harm than good.

Most recent Japanese cycles are plain bearing engines.
Possible exception is/are the super high output semi racer
bikes.
These adaptors have worked fine on Gold Wings and larger Yamaha engines for many years.
The spin on filter(s) used for these are decent sized: mine uses the 7317? Honda Accord filter.

Only mentioned it because the OP had an '82. Same vintage as my 1100 zook which runs a whoppin 1.42-7.11psi at 3000rpm. Some of the aftermarket coolers and filter relocation kits weren't the best way to go.
